Most of the houses we get called to sit in the seven neighborhoods built between 1948 and 1992, with the bulk going up in the 1960s and 70s. That means a lot of original torsion hardware, side-mount springs sized for doors that weigh more than what gets installed today, and openers that have been swapped once or twice but never brought up to current safety standards. We work on that stock a lot, so we're not guessing at what's behind the panel when we pull up.
We don't send a different tech for the estimate and a different tech for the repair. Whoever looks at the spring or the track is the one who fixes it, same visit when the part's in stock. From there it's a short run to most of the areas we cover: Hidenwood is about a mile southeast, Charles about two miles north-northwest, Jenkins three miles north, Deer Park three miles east-northeast, Kiln Creek four miles northeast, and Epes, McIntosh, Fort Eustis, and Reservoir all sit within about six miles.
Farther out, we still take calls in Rushmere (8 miles), Smithfield (9 miles), Yorktown (11 miles), Poquoson (13 miles), Gloucester Point (14 miles), and Portsmouth and Surry (18 miles each). If you're outside that range, ask when you call - we'd rather tell you straight than have you wait on a truck that's coming from across the water.

Springs, cables, rollers, tracks, openers, and panel sections - the parts that actually fail on a garage door, as opposed to the whole-unit replacements some outfits push first. On a torsion spring job we're sizing to the door's actual weight and drum size, not swapping in a generic spring and hoping.
This area sits in a cold-moderate climate band, which shows up in the calls we get: openers that struggle to close all the way in a hard freeze because the travel limits shifted, weatherstripping that's cracked and letting wind through the bottom seal, and steel tracks that have picked up a little rust where they bolt to the jamb. We don't do custom architectural doors - the kind built to order with non-standard dimensions or materials that need a specialty fabricator. If that's what you're after, we'll say so instead of taking the job and stalling out on parts.
We also don't take on jobs that turn into structural work - if the header above the opening is rotted, if the framing shifted enough that the whole opening is out of square, that's a carpenter's job first, and we're not going to reframe a garage to make a door fit.
